As part of the Center for Student Professional Development’s efforts to prepare students for the working world, guidance for identifying, procuring and preparing for internship opportunities is offered to all interested Fox School of Business students. The timeline for finding and securing an internship varies from student to student, but it is strongly recommended that all Fox students explore the many internship opportunities posted on Handshake, a career management platform. There is a wide variety of opportunities available with employers from varied industries.

Center for Student Professional Development

The Fox Center for Student Professional Development (CSPD) is a comprehensive Fox School of Business and Management resource focused on preparing students for entry into the professional business environment. CSPD empowers students with life-long skills and a transformative professional development experience based on market-driven expertise. This is accomplished through workshops, mentoring and internships that complement both in-person and online classroom learning.

CSPD prepares students for the business world and is a vital link between Fox School students and the business community. The CSPD offers a variety of services connecting students with employers, thereby supplying regional employers with a diverse source of talent known for a strong work ethic.

Canvas

Canvas is Temple University’s online Learning Management System (LMS). All online courses and most face-to-face courses use Canvas to host discussion boards, assignments, link to videos, track grades and more.  

The Center for Student Professional Development also utilizes Canvas as a portal through which enrolled graduate and undergraduate students can access an array of professional development resources.

The comprehensive platform houses interactive modules comprised of quizzes, videos, webinars, infographics and checklists, designed to guide students through a professional development process that includes resume writing, company and industry research, networking, interviewing and more.

FoxNet

FoxNet is a web-based résumé database and recruitment tool used by the Center for Student Professional Development and Fox School of Business students. Employers specifically looking to hire Fox School of Business students post their internships, co-ops and post-grad opportunities on this system.

Through FoxNet, you will complete a student profile, upload your résumé, apply for jobs and schedule interviews.

Business Communications Center

The Business Communications Center aims to help Fox School of Business and Management students become better communicators. Clear, concise and compelling communication is essential for professional success in the business world. The center provides one-on-one tutoring to help students with course assignments, presentations, scholarship essays and cover letters.

Bloomberg Experiential Learning Partner

Bloomberg for Education recognizes the Fox School of Business as an Experiential Learning Partner. The Bloomberg program partners with Fox to provide innovative and rigorous curriculum for students that incorporates experiential learning through the Bloomberg Terminal. The Fox School offers innovative courses that build students’ financial market awareness and career readiness, and by using the Bloomberg Terminal, students can examine corporate fundamentals, assess relative value and understand corporate strategy in play.

Through the program, students gain insight into thousands of companies in more than 130 industries and understand the driving forces behind the movements in major asset classes, credit metrics, economics and government policy. The Bloomberg Terminal at Fox brings together data, news and analytics to provide the kind of complete understanding of companies, industries and markets that is a cost of entry in the current financial job market.

Fox Leadership Development Program

Preparing for your professional career requires networking skills and real-world business experience. The Fox Leadership Development Program helps students to build these industry-ready skills that companies seek in potential employees.

Throughout the program, students are required to participate in activities involving the following fundamental areas.

  • Community engagement
  • Financial literacy
  • Global awareness
  • Personal and professional development

Functioning as a central hub for undergraduate business students, the program showcases events and opportunities, and allows students to log their participation. Freshmen and sophomores are required to use the system to show that they are getting involved in experiences that will help them grow as professionals and as citizens.
