Our Application Review Philosophy 

The Lewis Katz School of Medicine conducts an individualized holistic review of each complete application to decide whom to interview. Factors include the following. 

• Academic history 

• College attended 

• MCAT® scores 

• Casper results 

• Recommendations 

• Extracurricular activities 

• Work experience 

• Medical-related experience 

• Community service activities 

• Research activities are considered but not required 

The personal attributes of applicants and the corresponding pre-professional, thinking and reasoning and scientific competencies are considered during holistic review in the Katz admission process.  The areas of evaluation, including the personal attributes of applicants are based on the general competency domains used to define the school’s medical education program objectives. The Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) Core Competencies for Entering Medical Students also served as a guide in developing the list of attributes.
